Former Resident Dies at
Larimore

| Thomas Vangen, 78, former resident of Grand Forks, died Sunday in a Larimore hospital where he had been a patient since April 11. He had been making his home with a daughter, Mrs. Bert Bartuska at Inkster. Services have been set at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Edwards funeral home in Larimore with Rev I.O. Thompson in charge. Burial will take place in the cemetery at Arvilla. The body will lie in state Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Born Oct. 12 1872 in Goodhue county, Minn., Mr. Vangen was married May 25, 1920 at Crookston, Minn. to Inga Olson. They lived at Erskine, Minn., until 1924 when they moved to Kempton. After a year, they moved to Arvilla, where they lived until 1943, moving to Grand Forks and then Inkster. Survivors, in addition to the daughter, include the widow; another daughter, Mrs. James F. Brunell of Lidgerwood: one son, Alvin of Grand Forks; two grandchildren, Connie Brunell and James Vangen; six sisters, Mrs. Oscar Olson of Grand Forks, Mrs. Halvor Lesetmoe of Bemidji, Minn., Mrs. Olaf Larson of Erskine; Mrs. Carl Kappedal of Winger, Minn., Mrs. Alfred Mahlen of Bainville, Mont, and Mrs. Knute Kappedal of Minneapolis. |
