| WILLISTON, ND - Rex Cain, 76, longtime Williston
resident of 803 Eighth Ave W, died Thursday, April 1, 1993, at the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in Culbertson, MT. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday, April 5, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Williston. The Rev. Lowell H. Swantz will officiate and burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Gardens, Williston. Rex P. Cain was born June 18, 1916 to Elmer and Georgina (McConnell) Cain on their ranch, west of Glasgow, Mont. He was raised there and attended local schools. A true cowboy, he worked on a number of ranches in that area and also was in rodeoing. During World War II he served in the US Army in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations in the 41st Division and after his discharge he returned to the Glasgow area. He then began working for the Great Northern Railway Co. and became a conductor on freight trains between Glasgow and Minot. He retired fom the railroad with 35 years of service. On June 3, 1956, he was united in marriage to Cora Mildred Harstad on the Harstad farm in Bonetrail. They lived in Williston through the years until Mrs. Cain's passing on July 23, 1972. Mr. Cain continued to make his home in Williston. On Sep 26, 1981, he was united in marriage to Myrtle E. French in Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Williston. they had lived in Williston since their marriage. Mr. Cain entered the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home just a year and a half ago. Mr. Cain is survived by his wife, Myrtle E. Cain of Williston; two sons: Lynden Cain of Phoenix, AZ and Harvey Cain of Inver Grove Heights, MN; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Curtis (Fay) Hanson of Williston, one stepson, Myron French of Williston; four grandsons, three granddaughters, three great grandsons, and one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Grace) Roesler of Squim, WA. Friends may call from 1 to 5 pm sunday and from 9 am to noon Monday at the Everson Funeral Home in Williston. |
