Neil Heggen

Funeral services for Neil Morton Heggen, 68, Rawson, were held
Friday, September 5, 1975, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in
Alexander, ND. He died September 2 at the Fort Meade Veteran's
Hospital, Fort Meade, SD.

Rev. Joel Herness officiated. Mrs Eunice Clouse was organist and
Evelyn Gullickson was soloist. John and Jerome Heggen ushered.
Pallbearers were:
Larry Njos,
Jerome Sundby,
Roger Sanders,
Alex Gullickson,
Paul Berge and
Gilbert Gullickson.
Interment was in Rawson Cemetery.

He was born in Northfield, WI, October 3, 1906, to
John and Otilla Olson Heggen. He came to the Beach area in ND
with his parents in 1913 and the family moved to Rawson in 1916
where his grandparents had built the Rawson Hotel. He received
his education in the Rawson area. As a young man he operated a
repair shop in Rawson until he entered the U.S. Army in 1942. He
served in the African and Italian theaters of operations. He was
discharged in 1945 and returned to McKenzie County.

On June 21, 1947 he married Mildred Bolken in Arnegard and the
couple has lived in Rawson since. He was an alderman for the
City of Rawson.

Survivors include his widow, a son Nels of Williston, two daughters,
Mrs Alan (Muriel) Henricksen of Rapid City, SD and
Mrs Larry (Joanne) Njos of Williston;
a step son, Carl Bolken of Watford City;
eight grandchildren, three brothers:
Howard of Alexander,
James of Park River, and
Norman of Rawson;
and two sisters, Mrs Stella Humphrey of Osseo, WI and
Mrs Joe (Mabel) Marenette of Portland, OR.
