Mildred V. Heggen

Mildred was born on June 15, 1913, on a farm near Alexander to
Carl and Gurina (Holkestad) Bolken. She was raised on the farm
and graduated from Alexander High School.

She worked in the Alexander Post Office for a number of years.
She married Neil Heggen on June 21, 1947, in Sidney, MT. They
lived in Rawson and raised a family of four children. Neil passed
away on September 2, 1975. She continued to live in Rawson
until November of 1989, when she moved into the Kensington in
Williston. In the winter of 1991, she moved to the
Good Shepherd Home, Watford City where she remained a
resident until her death on Wednesday, August 5, 1998.

She loved to sew, knit and crochet. She made afghans for all her
childen and crocheted many baby afghans. If she wasn't busy in
the house, you could find her working in her garden tending to
her beautiful flowers. Her greatest joy was her family, especially
her grandchildren.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alexander and
its Ladies Aid and the Cherry Homemakers in Arnegard. She
was the Rawson City auditor for 37 years. Mildred was also the
secretary of Timber Creek Township before she was married.
She was a member of the American Legion auxiliary.
She will be sadly missed by all of her family.

She is survived by two sons:
Carl Bolken and his wife Bette of Yuma, AZ,
Nels Heggen and his wife Stephenie of Rawson;
two daughters:
Muriel Henricksen and her husband Alan of Rapid City, SD,
Joanne Njos and her husband Larry of Williston, ND,
one sister, Glaydes Fisher of Minneapolis, MN,
two brothers:
Clarence Bolken of Hazen, ND,
Hilmar Bolken of Williston,
fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant twin
siblings, two brothers, Cecil and Francis, one sister, Alice Foreng,
and a grandson, Steve Henricksen.
