MARTHA JUELSON was born at Rock Dell,

youth. In the year 1887 she was married to
Elling J. Ellingson, also of Rock Dell, MN. Eight
years later, they moved to Pennock in Kandiyohi
County, MN. This union was blest with 19 children,
13 of whom survive their Mother. They are:

Her first husband, Elling J. Ellingson, passed away
in 1922 and a son Alfred in 1925. Three daughters
and two sons died in infancy.

In the spring of 1925 she was united in marriage with
Bernt Gunderson of Swift Falls, MN. Her death
occurred on October 25 last, and came unexpectedly
following a heart attack, although she had been failing
during the past three years.

In addition to the children, she is survived by her
husband, 41 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren
three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Gunderson was possessed of a kind and cheer-
ful disposition, a good wife, Mother, and a friendly
neighbor. She will be missed by a large circle of
friends as well as by the members of her family.

The following tribute was written by a grandchild:

LIFE'S WINDING STAIRWAY
(Written in Memory of my Grandmother who died
on Wednesday evening of this week, October 25, 1939)

Life is one long stairway, ever winding,
Neighbors, friends and relatives a-binding;
Climbing up the stairs we're ever finding
Something different from the day before.

Starting from the bottom, climbing ever higher,
Every day we come a little nigher;
But each hour of the day a few retire,
For they have reached their destination shore.

The other night the angels took away Grandmother
And left alone my only Step-Grandfather,
And I am sure it will be hard to fine another
Who can carry on the burden that she bore.

So be patient, dear companion, let us wait;
Take the pathway of that well beloved mate,
Where the angels open wide the golden gate,
And we climb that winding stairway,
Then no more.
