She was born on August 29, 1926, in Round Prairie Township, Williams County, North Dakota,
to Alfred and Hanna Mahlan. She attended grades 1-12 in Bainville, Montana.

Laura married Leonard Hovland on May 29, 1949. Leonard and Laura had several moves
throughout the West until they settled in Bremerton in 1970. Laura worked at Kitsap
Community Action Program (KCAP) in Bremerton for 17 years as a receptionist until she retired.

Her interests were bingo, cross words and spending time with her family. Laura enjoyed visiting with
her family in North Dakota during her vacations. Laura moved to Martha & Mary in 1999.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and then her husband, Leonard in 1993. She is survived by
her children, Larry Hovland (Regina) of Port Orchard,
Lavonne Carlson of Port Orchard,
Lola Stephenson (Don) of Seabeck,
Leo Hovland of Port Orchard,
Lori Riska of Bremerton,
Lyle Hovland of Bremerton;
17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Following cremation, services will be held in Plentywood, MT, where she will be laid to rest
with her husband, Leonard.

Laura was a special person and will be missed by many. Love ya, mom!
