Lasse Vangen
Obituary
| Lasse Vangen, a resident of the town of Knute, died
at his home here on March 11th. Though he has been in bed more or less for a year he had not suffered great pain until the last few weeks when the disease became acute. The primary cause of his sickness seemed to have been some kind of stomach trouble, as that organ failed to do its function, causing extreme weakness and a general breakdown of his system until finally he became only a shadow of his former self. Mr. Vangen was born in Sogn, Norway, Sept. 20th, 1850. Landed in America in the spring of 1867, married Miss Thora Jenson Aug. 13th 1872, and located in Goodhue County, this state, where he has resided until a little over a year ago when he purchased and located on a farm in the southwestern part of the town of Knute. Deceased is survived by his wife and several grown up children of which Mrs. Olaf Larson, Mrs. Carl Kappedal and Mrs. Timon Bestul are all residents of this township, besides Mrs. Alfred Mahlen, of Williams County, ND and Mrs. Knute Kappedal of Woodside. A son, Torvald Vangen, resides in Bemidji. |
