Funeral Memoriam
1945 - 2005

Judith was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Orville and Winnifred (Nikle) Syverson,
on September 4, 1945. She was raised on their farm 9 miles west of Grand Forks. She
attended Oakville Elementary School #32, and attended Central High School in Grand Forks
where she was active in the school's Science Club, and participated in the local 4H group.
She graduated in 1963. Judith attended college at UND Grand Forks where she received a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Math, and minors in Science and French. She graduated from
UND in 1967.

Judith married James Hamann on September 2, 1967 at Emerado, North Dakota. They spent two
years in Grand Forks where she taught at Midway School near Inkster teaching Junior High
Math and Science. She also worked at the UND cafeteria for a time. They moved to the
Meek farm in Blacktail Township north of Williston. Judith taught Math and Science at
Trenton High School in Trenton. In the fall of 1969 Judith began teaching Math, Science,
and French at Epping High School, and was also a cheerleader class advisor. She remained
at the Epping High School until it closed in 1986. She then began teaching at Grenora High
School until her health began to fail.

On July 16, 1991 Judith entered the Tioga Long Term Facility where she was exceptionally
cared for until her death on Wednesday.

Judith was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, and the ALCW; she was a member of the
Williston for Toastmistresses, the Marmon Birthday Club and Homemakers club. Judith
enjoyed oil painting, mainly landscapes. She enjoyed watching ballet, gymnastics, and
figure skating. Judith especially enjoyed watching these sports during the Olympics.
She enjoyed sewing, and was an excellent seamstress, she was also a wonderful gardener,
raising varied vegetables, and flowers, including African Violets, Daisies, and
Bleeding Hearts. She was also a homemaker and a 4H leader.

Judith is survived by her parents, Orville and Winnifred Syverson of Emerado, ND;
her husband, James Hamann of McGregor, ND; daughters, Laura White of Williston, ND
along with her two children, Mason and Courtney, Tara Hamann of Fargo, ND along with
her two children, Jesse Galusha and Tyler Martinson, and Kaya Koenig of Lakeville, MN;
brother Steven Syverson and his son, Michael of Lowell, MA; sister, Sandra McCleary and
her children, Erin Lindquist and Devin McCleary of Emerado, ND.

Judith was preceded in death by her father-in-law Gilbert Hamann, and her
mother-in-law Jessie Hamann.
