| Clarence Earl Belisle was born November 22, 1914 at
Medicine Lake, Montana, the oldest son of Rudolph and Clista (Smith) Belisle. At the age of 19 he moved to Larson, North Dakota where he opened a garage and started out with a handful of tools. On June 12, 1938 he married Beatrice Norby in Noonan, North Dakota. They moved to Columbus, North Dakota where Clarence was employed with the Anton Ness garage. In 1940 he purchased the Sommerness hardware business, later adding a welding business, an implement, and car dealership. In 1961 they moved to Williston where he continued his welding and machine business. Clarence was an avid sportsman: enjoyed hunting and silhouette shooting. He was unanimously approved for induction to the North Dakota Shooter's Hall of Fame. He was also a pilot for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Gideons. Clarence is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two daughters, Renae and husband, Vern Kvernum of Williston and LeAnn and husband Carl Larsen of Ray, ND; six grandchildren: Elgin Kvernum and wife, Karla of Joplin, MT; Darren Kvernum and wife, Kim of Williston; Jeffrey Kvernum of Spokane, WA; Stephanie Kvernum of Fargo, ND; DeMaris Gill and husband, Terry of Kohler, WI, Lisa Larsen of Ray: four brothers: Ralph of Minot; Glenn of Spokane, WA; Gerald of Billings, MT; and Gene of Riverdale, ND; two sisters: Elaine and Phylis, both of Billings, MT; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Clista, and one brother, Carroll.
