| Alfred Mahlen, 77, a pioneer resident of Round
Prairie township, died Saturday in a Culbertson hospital, after a long illness. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 4 at 2 pm (MST) in the First Lutheran church in Bainville, MT with Rev. Everett Tande officiating. Burial will be in the Round Prairie Cemetery. Mr. Mahlen was born in Osakis, MN March 20, 1884 and was reared and educated in that vicinity. March 20, 1907 he was married to Hannah Vangen in Crookston, MN and came to North Dakota and homesteaded in Round Prairie township where he lived until 1940, when the family moved to Bainville, MT where he was employed by the Great Northern Railway for eight years before he retired. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors are his wife, four sons, Joel and Ernest of Bainville, MT, Syvert of Williston, ND and Fred of Havre, MT. Seven daughters, Lillian and Myrtle of Williston, ND, Esther and Florence of Zahl, ND, Ella of Bainville, MT, Pearl of Culbertson, MT, and Laura of Shelby, MT. |
