| Alfred Kalstad Alfred Ingwald Kalstad passed away October 9, 1950, at the home of Mrs. Katherine Bruley (where he had been since May 8, when he left the hospital where he spent months. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock pm Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Squaw Creek Church, conducted by Rev. R.P. Huss. Song service was given by Rufus Dimmick, with Miss Manda Peterson as accompanist. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ruth Soper, Mrs. Esther Johnson and Agnes Engebretson. Officiating as pallbearers were John Nandory, Rudolph Amundson, Sigwald Severson, Roy Haralson, Ed Nemec and Emil Engebretson. Alfred was born in Norway on Oct. 17, 1880, the first son of the late John and Ida Kalstad. He journeyed to America at the age of three years, settling in Squaw Creek where he has lived all his life, making his home with his sister, Mrs. Chester Ofte. He is survived by four brothers, namely - Theodore, Rochester, MN Louis, Norwood, NJ Henry and Victor of Black River Falls. Four sisters: Nora - Mrs. Sam Johnson, Julia - Mrs. Sam Stenulson, Stella- Mrs. Chester Ofte, all of Black River Falls; and Regna - Mrs. Julius Nelson of Melrose. He leaves many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Albin and Otto, and two sisters, Anna and Inga preceded him in death. Alfred, better known to his friends as "Corky", was a lover of the outdoors. He spent much of his time fishing, hunting or just walking in the woods. His friends regret his death and extend sympathy to his family/ |
