| Alma Cornelia Brenno, nee: Wick Born Into Earthly Life May 10, 1901, Lakota, North Dakota Entered Into Eternal Rest September 3, 1986, Minot, North Dakota The services of worship to the honor and glory of God and in memory of Alma Brenno offered Sunday, September 7, 1986, 5 P. M., from the Thompson-Larson Funeral Chapel, Minot, North Dakota, and Monday, September 8, 1986, 10:30 A. M., from the sanctuary of Concordia Lutheran Church, Crosby, North Dakota Officiant Rev. Owen Gaasdelen, Pastor, First Lutheran Church, Washburn, North Dakota, and the former Pastor of First Lutheran Church, Columbus, North Dakota Music David Walen, Soloist Bev Jacobson, Organist Congregational participation in Song: No. 518 Beautiful Savior and No. 314 Behold A Host, found in the Green Hymnal The Order of Service begins on Page 206 of the Green Lutheran Book of Worship. Everyone is invited to participate. All who loved her will serve as Honorary Bearers Active Bearers: Michael Joyce Tony Watterud Richard Campbell Jonathan Joyce Paul Brenno Verne Ulven Gordon Post Obituary A daughter of the late Ole and Inga Wick. She moved with her parents to a homestead near McGregor, North Dakota, and was raised there until she was 9 years of age, when the family moved to Noonan. On October 14, 1923, at Noonan, she married Elmer Gerhard Brenno. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Columbus where he was superintendent of Montana Dakota Utilities. He died in 1972. She had been active in community and church affairs at Columbus. A member of First Lutheran Church in Columbus, she taught Sunday School there for 32 years, active in the ALCW of the church and served as its president for 12 years. She was also president of the Women's Missionary Federation of the church for 4 years. Through the years she had sung at over 300 funerals in the Columbus-Noonan area. For many years she had also been active in the Columbus Improvement League. Well known for her mistress of ceremonies activities for community activities, she was frequently called upon to serve in that capacity at community events. For the past 9 winters she had been in Mesa, Arizona, and was active in the choir of St. Peter's Church there. For the last year she had been in Minot. She had also lived at Crosby in later years, and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church there. Survived By Sons, E. G. (Kris), Barry N. and David A. Brenno; daughters, Mrs. E. W. (Betty) Watterud, Mrs. Byron (Joan) Bonsness and Mrs. Gerald (Vonnie) Joyce; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Elvin (Betty) Larson; a number of nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer G., brothers Julian, Arnold, Harold, Vernon and Orville Wick, sister Viola, and a grandchild Tamara L. Hanson. Final Resting Place Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Crosby, North Dakota Following the Crosby Church Service all friends are cordially invited to join in fellowship at the church with the family. Our family deeply appreciates the many acts of love, kindness and concern expressed to us by all of you at this time. Your friendship was so valued by Alma in her lifetime. That same friendship gives us great strength now. |
