Funeral Memoriam
May 16, 1930 - August 28, 1987
| Arlene Bjerke, 57, a long time Williston resident and
well known Licensed Practical Nurse in Obstetrics at Mercy Hospital, passed away late Friday night, August 28, 1987. Her Funeral Mass was Tuesday morning in St. Joseph's Catholic Church by the Rev. Norman Dukart and the Rev. Raymond A. Aydt. Arlene was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Altar Band and the North Dakota LPN Association. Arlene Agnes Zubrod was born in Elgin, ND on May 16, 1930 to Lawrence and Ruth Zubrod. She was raised in Elgin, Mott and New Leizpzig, ND and attended local schools. In 1948 the family moved to Kathryn, ND and in 1950 Arlene moved to Williston and completed Nurses training at Mercy Hosptial. On October 24, 1951 she married Edwin I. Bjerke in Valley City, ND. They established their home in Williston and have lived here ever since. Arlene is survived by her husband, Edwin, three daughters: Beverly Bjerke, Bonnie (Mrs. Todd) Hanson and Caroline Bjerke, all of Williston, one son, Kent, also of Williston, one grandson, Michael, one brother, Vernon Zubrod of Kathryn, ND and a number of nieces and nephews. Arlene graduated from LPN training in January 1951 and immediately began working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the OB wing of Mercy Hospital. She worked there until 1962 when she began raising her amily. On September 27, 1969 she went to work at the Good Samaritan Hospital in the OB Department, she was employed there until the Good Samaritan closed on June 30, 1973. On July 1, 1973 she transferred her employment to Mercy Hospital where she worked as a LPN in the OB department. |
